Due to the retirement of its current director, the Board of Trustees seeks applications for the position of Director.   Muskegon Area District Library serves a county of over 119,450, with ten (10) branches and an administrative headquarters, and is a member of the Lakeland Library Cooperative.  

The Library Director reports to eight member Board of Trustees.  Responsibilities include, the fiscal, personnel, facilities and operational management of the library, experience within a union workplace required.

Muskegon County is located on Michigan’s West Coast known for its beautiful beaches and abundant outdoor activities. It is also home to a world class art museum and symphony orchestra.  It is located 30 minutes from Grand Rapids.

Minimum qualifications: include a Master's Degree in Library Science or equivalent from an ALA Accredited Program.  Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in the library field including four years in an administrative position. Possession of or qualifications to acquire a Level I Certification with the Library of Michigan.

Experience with building campaigns and millage elections a plus.

Salary range: $70,000 - $80,000 with benefits.
