Hi all,
March is Reading Month and in case you’re still looking for new ways to encourage reading, let me point out the information compiled
by Library of Michigan and the Michigan Department of Education to promote “purposeful
reading for all Michiganders.”
Four school levels are highlighted and in each a MeL Database is referenced along with the lessons that can be taught and goals achieved by using the database.
BookFlix™,
Early World of Learning and
Research in Context are featured.
A short recorded statement by State Superintendent of Education Brian Whiston and Professional Knowledge resources are also included.
And, don’t forget to look at the MeL
Books & Literacy Gateway where you’ll find select websites and MeL Databases.
MeL Minutes are brought to you by the Library of Michigan. Want more information on MeL? Stay tuned for next week’s MeL Minute available
on many Michigan library listservs, email us at
contact@mel.org or visit mel.org.
We encourage you to share MeL Minutes with your public service colleagues.
Registration is now open for the next MeL/MCLS MeL Databases webinar, Introducing
Teachers to MeL, scheduled for March 30, 3:30pm Eastern. This 30 minute webinar will focus on MeL resources which support teachers in their critical work of ensuring student achievement. Registration is free and open to all Michigan library staff. Read more
and register for this webinar.
