Public libraries launch, expand services during COVID-19 pandemic

As public libraries close their buildings to the public, staff continue to serve their communities in innovative ways. Those are among the chief findings the Public Library Association (PLA) announced today in the broadest survey of public libraries’ response to the pandemic to date, with 2,545 unique responses nationwide. Most respondents (98%) reported their buildings were closed to the public but, in many cases, staff continued to expand access to digital resources, launch virtual programs and coordinate services with local government agencies. ALA awards additional 21 Library Census Equity Fund grantees

The American Library Association (ALA) and the LOR Foundation announced that 21 additional libraries will receive Library Census Equity Fund mini-grants of $2,000 to bolster their service to hard-to-count communities and help achieve a complete count in the 2020 Census.  Read more

LLAMA webinar offers a more effective way to give employee feedback

The Library Leadership and Management Association (LLAMA) will present “How to give effective feedback,” at 1:30-3:00 p.m. CT on Wednesday, April 15. This webinar will present proven strategies for creating an environment for productive coaching conversations, discuss best practices on how to give and receive feedback, walk through scenarios of feedback gone wrong, and show how to repair relationships damaged by poorly executed feedback.
