The Lapeer District Library is seeking an experienced, creative and enthusiastic department head for children’s services. The job site for this posting is at the Marguerite deAngeli Branch, but the person in this position travels to the smaller branches to directly administer collection development for the children’s collection and to work with branch staff on the provision of excellent children’s services. (There is a separate story time leader for the six smaller branches.) Currently the person in this position is scheduled to work Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, and Tuesday from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm. The children’s services department head also provides direct supervision on every fifth Saturday at the deAngeli Branch from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Other evening and weekend hours will be required to provide the programming needed within the library system. The weekly schedule could change depending upon the candidate and the library's staffing and programming priorities. In addition to serving as the children’s librarian at the main branch (Marguerite deAngeli Branch Library), the person in this position is responsible for development of the children’s collections at the six small branches within the library system and for providing guidance to the branch staff regarding children’s services.
