Responsible for the promotion of the district library within the community it serves. Responsible for developing policies related to marketing and public relations in coordination with the Library Director. Serves as the Volunteer Coordinator for the district library. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Work is performed under the general supervision of the Library Director. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES An employee in this position will be required to assist in the operation of the library by performing any or all of the following essential duties and others as assigned. - Developing and implementing the library marketing plan and resulting public relations activities such as social media, advertising, tours, displays, retailing, promotional publications including web and other online products, and public speaking; - Coordinating and employing multiple social media and online marketing platforms; - Developing policies related to marketing and public relations; - Representing the Library at community and professional meetings and events in connection with these responsibilities; - Planning, developing and assisting in district-wide programs and assisting departments with program development and promotion; - Developing and administering a volunteer program; - Coordinating related activities with library partners; - Assisting in the strategic planning functions of the Library; and - Preparing related reports, correspondence and records. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESREQUIRED: Broad knowledge and experience in public relations and communications, content marketing, and relationship management. *REQUIRED: *Excellent skills and proven experience employing various social media and online marketing platforms. *REQUIRED*: Proficient in various digital publishing platforms, Microsoft products, and Google docs. *REQUIRED*: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to include public speaking and presentations. *REQUIRED:* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. *REQUIRED:* Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. REQUIRED: Ability to work weekends and evenings as needed.REQUIRED: Ability to travel to all district library locations. Valid Michigan Driver’s License required. *PREFERRED: *Experience in grant writing. EDUCATION *REQUIRED:* Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field. *PREFERRED*: Master’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field. *EXPERIENCE* *REQUIRED:* Three years of related experience. *PREFERRED:* Public library experience.
