I had a fair amount of requests for the pre-employment skill test. We used the attached document as a computer skill assessment in our last round of interviews. There are a few tweaks I might consider for the questions next time…the question about accessing the online account was missed by all who took it. But the details in the word document requirements were very telling as to whether the applicant could follow directions. We allowed 20 minutes for this test. We also did a simple filing test using old card catalog cards, and allowed 30 minutes for that part. This was effective for our needs. Feel free to use whatever you find helpful!

Anyone use a skill assessment when hiring circulation staff? I’d love to find a simple computer/technology aptitude test which could be included in the job interview process.

Also, considering using Dewey Easy, unless there is another dewey specific training/testing software or website that can be recommended.
