Head of Adult & Technical Services Departments

 

The historic Howell Carnegie District Library has a full-time position for an experienced manager to oversee the library’s Adult & Technical Services Departments.  This individual also serves on the seven-member leadership team.

 

The Howell Carnegie Library is about to embark on strategic planning, responding to a shift in community demographics and library usage.

 

The successful candidate will strengthen library services to meet the changing needs of the community, offering robust programming options for adults.

 

This individual will manage and supervise a mix of eight full and part-time staff to create a cohesive team.


Competitive salary from $58,417 – $73,653 (with placement negotiable dependent on experience and qualifications).

Minimum Qualifications:

·       Master of Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited university

·       3 years of progressively more responsible public library experience

·       3 years of supervisory experience in a customer service environment

·       3 years of library programming experience or equivalent for adults 

 

Preferred Qualifications

·       Experience working with Innovative Interfaces, Sierra application

·       Technical services experience

·       Archives/local history experience

 

Essential Functions:

·       Manage staff of Adult and Technical Services Departments including hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating 

·       Formulate, deliver and evaluate programming and outreach for adult audience

·       Responsible for collection development for adult audience

·       Active engagement in the community

·       Responsible for all technical services including ILS settings

·       Maintain Howell Area Archives and local history collection including managing volunteers
