Library Law Consultant Position

The Library of Michigan, located in Lansing, seeks to add a Library Consultant to its Statewide Services department to provide support and consultation to library staff throughout Michigan and participate as a team member for statewide
library development. This position provides general consultation with a specialization in legal issues and laws related to libraries for the Michigan library community and coordinates statewide activities for the Library of Michigan, including presentation
of educational programs and the creation of resources related to legal issues and general library management. This position provides departmental staff with information and advice on legal issues of libraries. Extensive independent judgment and interpretation
is required to carry out assignments that have impact on libraries in Michigan as well as services or programs provided by Library of Michigan. The position represents the Library of Michigan at state and national levels, participates in pertinent professional
associations and acquires continuing education essential to carry out job responsibilities.
Qualifications: ALA-accredited Master’s Degree in Library Science and preferred Juris Doctorate and membership in good standing with the Michigan State Bar.
