This is a message from Lisa Wininger, Education and Outreach Manager for the Michigan Geological Survey, located in Kalamazoo and Houghton.  She asked me to pass this information on to all of you:

Michigan libraries have been contacting MGS about the 2026 summer reading "Unearth A Story."  MGS is the state agency that studies and provides information about Michigan geology.  Our educational outreach services are provided free of charge and we often focus on paleontology, fossils, Michigan geological history and so on.

I would like to gauge library interest in working with our team this summer.  Specifically, we are developing:

1. Digital resource kit ( all virtual)
2. Physical kits to borrow and then return for restock and reissue
3. MGS supporting in-person events at your location ( dependent on proximity to our locations, other events, and scale of event).
