Hello all,

Is Workforce Development or career guidance part of your library or school’s mission?  Are patrons searching for a career path to follow or been in the same field for a few years and contemplating a change -- a first job, a second career, the next opportunity?  MeL database Job & Career Accelerator (J&CA) may be of assistance as they begin this process.  J&CA is a stand-alone learning center in LearningExpress Library, another MeL database.  J&CA is found in the alphabetic list of databases as well as in the Jobs, Business, and Teens gateways.

Find the right occupation by taking a 60 question survey (based on ONet), create a professional resume (or upload an existing one), search for jobs, apply for a job, and track progress while moving from application to interview to hiring!  Video and tutorial instruction on how to fill out an application, succeed during the interview, evaluate a job offer, and other useful tips are available.  The resume builder includes industry and job specific keywords and action phrases to help each resume stand out and get noticed.   Michigan residents or Michigan library access only.

MeL Minutes are brought to you by the Library of Michigan.  Want more information on MeL?  Stay tuned for next week’s MeL Minute available on many Michigan library listservs, email us at contact@mel.org or visit mel.org.  We encourage you to share MeL Minutes with your public service colleagues.
