The deadline for the Senate "Dear Appropriator" letters has been extended to May 24th! That means you have three more days
to convince your senators to support FY 2018 funding for the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) and the Innovative Approaches to Literacy (IAL) program.
As of this morning, 35 senators have signed the LSTA letter, and 28 have signed the IAL letter. Not sure if your Senators
have signed?
Check our handy database!
When you call, ask them to "please support federal library funding by signing both the Library Services and Technology Act
(LSTA) and the Innovative Approaches to Literacy (IAL) "Dear Appropriator" letters being circulated by Sen. Jack Reed of Rhode Island."
Between LSTA and IAL, $213 million in current federal library funding is at risk.
ALA's
Legislative Action Center has everything you need to identify your Senators and to tell him or her to sign the LSTA and IAL "Dear Appropriator" letters being circulated to protect both of these critical programs in the FY 2018 federal budget.
Not sure what LSTA and IAL are all about? Visit District Dispatch for
more background information.
