How to be VISIBLE in a VIRTUAL World
Many
librarians believe that the value of a library is intrinsic – until a library’s
existence is threatened. It is hard
to find new ways to persuade others that a library is a good thing to keep. By adapting persuasion theory, we can
create a powerful image of the library.
Participants will be able to distinguish between products and benefits in
the patron’s eyes, the importance of credibility and visibility, and persuasion
tactics to use to convince leaders in their respective environments of the value
of the library. You will explore what makes the library indispensable, whom to
influence, when and where, and the significance for developing a plan for being
visible/viable in a virtual world.
