Hello,
I know many, if not most public library use a machine to buff-out the scratches on their collections of DVDs and CDs to make them playable again. I have a friend who accidentally damaged the data surface of a rather valuable, collectible CD. It still plays but the surface scratches lower the value. I was curious exactly how this CD repair process works. Is the protective plastic layer ground down? Does a polish or wax fill-in the surface scratches? The reason I ask is my friend is considering applying this repair process at a local video store and he's concerned about introducing more surface scratches or introducing other imperfections that may lower the value of his CD further.
Thanks for your insights!
