LM InteriorHoliday Hours and Library Cards

The Library of Michigan will have some slight changes in open hours due to the upcoming Christmas and New Year's Holidays. Between now and 2022, the Library of Michigan will be closed on the following days:

  • Thursday - Saturday, December 23-26, 2021 (Christmas)
  • Thursday - Saturday, December 30, 2021-January 2, 2022 (New Year's)

Normal weekly operating hours will resume on January 3, 2022. Additionally, many staff members will be on leave to spend time with their families of the holidays. As a result, this may result in delays in processing library card applications or some reference services. For those that already have a Library of Michigan library card, be sure to take advantage of all the online resources available at: www.Michigan.gov/LMdatabases.

#HelpLMFind Copies of the "Dearborn Navy News"

With this issue, we will begin to periodically highlight items the Library of Michigan is seeking to add to its collection. Often these will be items that are part of an incomplete set. We want to enlist Michigan residents to help fill out your state's collection to ensure long-term access to researchers across the state and around the world. Our first item is the Dearborn Navy News.

The Dearborn Navy News was a weekly newsletter published by the U.S. Naval Training School located on land leased to the U.S. Navy at Ford’s Rouge Plant in Dearborn, Michigan. The first issue was released on June 30, 1943 and highlighted the day-to-day activities of the school. The Library of Michigan only has a few issues of the publication and is on the lookout for other copies to add to the Library’s collections.

If you have copies of the Dearborn Navy News or other items to add to the collections of the Library of Michigan, call 517-335-1477 or email Librarian@Michigan.gov.
