Dear Library Colleagues, Please feel free to share with your staff, board, Friends and community members: *Announcing the Fourth Annual Genealogy Seminar at Pinckney Library April 21* Family tree dabblers and serious genealogy students alike need to mark their calendars now for the fourth annual “Putting the Puzzle Together” genealogy seminar on Saturday, April 21, at the Pinckney Library. The organizers are thrilled to welcome nationally-known genealogy speaker Kelli Bergheimer. She is a member of both the Genealogical Speakers Guild and the Association of Professional Genealogists. This is Ms. Bergheimer’s first appearance in the area, and we anticipate a great day of learning and networking with this enthusiastic and experienced teacher. Select topics for this year’s event include “Genealogical DNA Testing for Beginners,” to help you sort out the pie charts and percentages in a DNA report, and what it may mean for your family tree research; “Preparing for a Library/Archive Visit BEFORE You Go,” allows attendees to benefit from lessons learned during years of research in libraries and archives of all kinds. The presentation “Things I Wish I Would Have Known When I Started,” offers tips for beginners and helpful tricks for more seasoned researchers. Finally, “How to Clear the Mess on Your Desk,” reinforces the importance of organization and provides approaches for taming the post-its, scribbled notes, and backs of envelopes into methodically ordered means for your research, maximizing your time and resources. Participants in earlier editions of this seminar have commented on how much truly useful information is imparted in this fast-moving, well-organized event.
