Hello.
We have a permanent Story Book Trail at a local park. We have 18 posts along the .04 mile trail. While I'm not the one who initially put it together, so I don't have anything about purchasing to share, I can help with other information.
We put in a new book every month from April to November. I try to choose books by February and order all the books at once for the entire year. I only consider picture books that have been published within the last two years, due to books going in and out of print so quickly. The books also have to meet a certain page requirement, about 32 pages (16 two-page spreads), with some wiggle-room.
Another staffer puts the books together for me; but I did it myself during Covid, so I can tell you what I did: size poster board pieces to fit the measurements of the post frames at the park, get two copies of the book (since book pages are double-sided), cut out pages with an exacto knife, tape book pages onto poster with double-sided tape, and laminate. I also have a welcome and closing sign for each book, which I write the text for and is put together by the Graphic Designer at our library. We then print these signs at the library using a very large printer.
When I go to the park, here's what I do: I stop at each post, take the old poster from the previous book out of the frame, clean the frame off, clean the plexiglass that goes over the poster, and then insert the new poster. Then I put the plexiglass on top and move onto the next post.
Good luck!

So, tell me about your experiences with mobile hot spots.
Costs, initial and on-going. Vendors (with contact info). Ups and downs. Highs and lows.
We're in a rural area with sometimes spotty internet coverage, so feedback from similar libraries is especially appreciated. But we like to hear from civilization as well around these parts.
Thanks,
Bob

All,
As you likely have, for some time we have been hearing rumbling and rumors that one or more of the digital components of the former Baker & Taylor was to be resurrected. That would now appear to be the case or at least, the intent with Charlotte, NC based (just like B&T was!) LibraryOne Digital, Inc.

[ https://www.libraryone.com/ | https://www.libraryone.com/ ]
>From the looks of it the idea is to use the former B&T TS360 product both as a paid subscription database for print collection development (but not ordering) as well as a marketplace for digital ordering for the Boundless (previously Axis360) now LibraryOne digital platform.
Under [ https://www.libraryone.com/publishers | https://www.libraryone.com/publishers ] is a tag that reads "Why Publishers Can Trust Us" Use the word publisher and library interchangeably there and I would like to know the answer to that question myself.
Call me skeptical.
We've also been hearing similar revival rumors about the former B&T cataloging utility BTCat, although the OCLC action instituted might have served to put the brakes on that [ https://www.wakeforestlawreview.com/2026/01/checked-out-the-fall-of-bt-in-the-library-metadata-wars/ | https://www.wakeforestlawreview.com/2026/01/checked-out-the-fall-of-bt-in-the-library-metadata-wars/ ]

Branch Building Manager - Newburgh Chandler Public Library (IN)
The Newburgh Chandler Public Library (IN)<https://www.ncplibraries.org/> is looking for a flexible, driven, and caring individual to serve as its next Bell Road Branch Manager. Serving nearly 42,000 residents from three locations across Ohio Township, the Newburgh Chandler Public Library enhances lives and empowers the community through access, knowledge, and connections. The Branch Manager ensures that patrons, staff, and community experience excellent care and services in a well-maintained facility. Reporting to the Library Director, the Branch Manager is an active participant of the Library's Administrative Team and oversees all activities at the Bell Road library facility, including the hiring, training, and evaluation of the circulation and maintenance staff serving at this location. Key initiatives include strengthening community connections through outreach initiatives, promoting library services to underserved populations, and expanding the local and digital resources in the library collection.
Newburgh is a thriving and growing suburb of Evansville, Indiana which is located right on the scenic Ohio River. The library also serves the residents of Chandler, just North of Newburgh. Ohio Township has a low cost of living both within the state and nationally. The community also offers great schools, a robust trail system for biking and walking, as well as two universities and two highly ranked hospitals in the surrounding area. Warrick County is one of the fastest growing counties in Indiana and is within a two-to-three-hour drive of many urban areas including St. Louis, Louisville, Indianapolis and Nashville.
Responsibilities: The Bell Road Branch Manager will assist patrons and staff with the library's resources; work with the Marketing Manager to promote the library; collect and report requested statistical data; maintain a cooperative and communicative relationship with other branches and administration; oversee the building's supply budget and meeting room usage; and communicate effectively with patrons, staff, and the community. Additional responsibilities are listed in the job description (linked at https://bradburymiller.com/current-clients/).
Qualifications: A master's degree in library science from an ALA-accredited university, experience supervising staff, and the ability obtain a level LC 3 (library certification 3) or higher per the Indiana State Library's guidelines is required. Management experience in a public library is preferred.
Compensation: The hiring salary range is $45,000 - $50,000 (with placement negotiable dependent on experience and qualifications) and an excellent fringe benefits package.
Apply via email with a meaningful cover letter and your resume as Word or PDF attachments to Trista Smith, Library Director<mailto:tsmith@ncplibraries.org> (tsmith@ncplibraries.org). This position closes on February 23, 2026.

Hi everyone;
We are working with our city to install a permanent Story Walk in one of
our local parks. If your library has been part of the installation of a
Story Walk, I would love to get your recommendations.
We are looking at the kind that are installed on posts with displays that
open to change stories.
1. What company did you use to purchase the Story Walk?
2. How many stations did you install?
3. How long was the walk that the Story Walk was installed at?
4. Any other recommendations, comments, etc. (The good, the bad, and the
ugly!)
Thanks for your help!

Hi everyone. We partner with Chikaming Open Lands (COL) for our yearly StoryWalk. I am including their website here for information from them: https://chikamingopenlands.org/storywalk
It is a community-wide project (as you can see on their website) and we do our part each year to provide a suggested title. This year we are using: Sometimes I Feel Like a Fox written by Danielle Daniel.
Take care,
Terri Hebert
