Hi Everyone, We are looking at changing how we organize/label our children's 398s. Right now, the entirety of our 398s is pulled to a section that is labeled as Folklore, Fairy Tales, & Mother Goose, but each book is still labeled and arranged by its Dewey number. It's not easily browsable, and we get a lot of requests that require going through the whole section to find similar materials. Right now, I'm looking at potentially sorting into broad categories of Fairy Tales, Folk Tales, Mythology, and Mother Goose and then breaking those categories down further. I know there are other libraries that do this to some extent or another, and I'd love to hear from you about what works, what doesn't, etc. I'd love to hear from those at libraries where this is more recent change as well as those who have had that be the norm for awhile. Feel free to respond off list to this email or to my work email, westonki@btpl.org. If there's interest, I'm happy to share a compilation of responses later - just let me know! Thank you!
