The theme is “Community
Engagement: How Friends Can Promote the Value of Your Library”
The
synopsis:
Friends can play a vital role as advocates
for the library and its services. What are some of the strategies that Friends
can undertake to promote and increase the value of the library? How can Friends
work with the director, library staff, and trustees to carry out cooperative
and collaborative activities which make the library a center of community
engagement?
Topics and speakers
include:- "Telling Your Library Story" by our Fred Ruffner Symposium speaker John Pelegrino from Gale/Cengage Learning
- "Success Stories: How Our Friends Promoted Our Millage" with Doreen Hannon, Director of the Salem-South Lyon Library
- and Kris Rzepczynski, Archivist at the Archives of Michigan, speaking about "Our Michigan Archives"
FOML will also hold the annual meeting for the membership and present the 2014 Outstanding Friends of the Library Merit Awards.
These workshops are a great time to network with other Friends groups, tour the Rochester Hills Public Library, and spend a day learning how to support your library!
