On behalf of the entire Ann Arbor Data Dive community here at the University of Michigan School of Information, I would like to cordially invite you and your organization to attend our new spring workshop, Data Dive: Unboxed.

A data dive is an event that brings together local non-profits and community members to work with data sets in context.

• Curious about how to run a data dive in your community?
• Want to know how your organization can benefit from participating in a data dive?
• Just interested in knowing more about what community data work looks like?

The workshop will be an event to bring together students, area non-profit organizations and other community members who are interested in either running a data dive or participating in a data dive. 

It will be partially in an unconference format to foster discussion between different stakeholders about what makes an effective data dive, both from a client side and an organizer's perspective. The 2014 A2 Data Dive organizers will run two sessions: 

1. a moderated panel discussion between organizers, participants and data professionals
2. a session featuring hands-on activities designed to give people a better sense of what community data work can look like beyond spreadsheets
