Time is running out to secure a seat for
this great opportunity to learn valuable tools to make your library even
more visible in your community. The deadline to register is Friday, October
31.
On November 6, 2014, the Cooperative
Directors Association, the Library of Michigan, and the Midwest Collaborative
for Library Services (MCLS) will co-host a program instructing and preparing
librarians on interacting with the media.
For the low cost of $70/person (including
lunch), you will work with public relations expert, Robert Kolt, of Kolt
Communications, and his team on skills such as talking to the media, what
to say and when to say it.
Head of the journalism faculty at Wayne
State University and Michigan Radio’s senior political analyst Jack Lessenberry
will present on how to develop win-win relationships with local journalists.
Reporters, now more than ever, need trained librarians to help teach them
how much and in how many ways they can help reporters do their jobs. Librarians
need reporters help in promoting local events and services.
This program will be held at the Meijer
branch of the Jackson District Library. For more information and to register,
go to the Media Coaching for Librarians events page: http://www.mcls.org/training-events/events/media-coaching-librarians/.
This project is supported (in part)
by the Library of Michigan with federal funds from the Institute of Museum
and Library Services.
