Library Director, Full-Time – REVISED AND REPOSTING

• Full-Time Position
• Salary Range = $45,000 - $48,000
• Medical Benefit Stipend

• 5 Vacation Days first year

Jamestown Township is a charter township of Ottawa County, Michigan which has experienced an approximately 35% growth in population in the past 2 years.  As of 2021, the township had a service population of 9,630 people.

Patmos Library of Jamestown Township:  The current library board is committed to the principle of intellectual freedom, the fundamental role of public libraries as providers of information, and resources and will be asking the voters to vote yes  for a millage renewal in November 2022 after a defeat in August. 

Job Description:

• Assumes full management responsibility for all library operations; develops and implements policies and procedures of the library; provides leadership and direction in the development of short and long-range library plans; gathers, interprets, and prepares data for reports and recommendations for suggested changes and improvements.
• Establishes appropriate service and staffing levels; monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures and allocates resources accordingly.
• Coordinates programming activities: contacts and arranges outside presenters/entertainers as directed; publicizes, promotes and evaluates programs.
• Prepares annual budget and ensures efficient use of budgeted funds, personnel, materials, and facilities; oversees the selection, receipt and cataloging of new library materials; reviews collections on an ongoing basis and coordinates removal of materials.
• Researches and secures grants and other sources of funding.
• Assists the Library Board in execution of their duties; coordinates activities between the Library, Lakeland Library Cooperative, Hudsonville Public Schools, other Township Departments, hired contractors, and consultants.
• Responds to public inquiries regarding library services, reference questions, cultural programs, technology advances and other related issues; prepares information brochures, articles, and reports to publicize the activities and services of the library, and to increase public awareness of the library as a community resource.

• Well-developed prowess at building and strengthening relationships and connecting with the community
• Highly effective communication and problem-solving skills
• A sense of humor, intellectual curiosity, and an eagerness to explore new ideas

Additional qualifications and requirements include:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Master of Library Science degree from an ALA accredited school preferred, but not required
• Public library experience: 2+ years
• Full-time, not remote
