Library Director position open! Library District #1, Doniphan County, KS Library District #1<https://librarydistrict1.mykansaslibrary.org/>, Doniphan County (KS), is seeking a dynamic, innovative, and passionate leader to serve as the Library Director. Reporting to the Library Board of Trustees, the Director will serve the 7,500 residents from four branches located in Troy, Highland, Elwood and Wathena. The Library has an annual operating budget of approximately $450,000 (funded by taxes levied independently of the city or county) and a staff of 7 full-time and 6-8 part-time employees. The Wathena branch library moved to a new location (2012) and the Troy Library recently underwent a full building renovation (2018). Staff plan, organize, promote, and lead programs at all four locations and, in 2018, the Library saw 30,000 visits. Doniphan County is located across the river from St. Joseph, Missouri. The Kansas City metro area is a 45-minute drive. Qualifications. Qualifications include: a bachelor's degree in an appropriate field from an accredited institution (preferred) and three years of experience in library management and operations or any equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience and education in library management, budget development, and operations. The Library Director must have superior written and oral communications skills; demonstrate success in effectively marketing and promoting library services to the community; sound fiscal and budgeting skills; experience in recruiting, mentoring, evaluating and retaining an excellent staff; and a thorough knowledge of current trends, technologies and "best practices" for library services. The Library Director has an office at Troy and travels as needed to the other libraries. The salary range for this full time, exempt position is $46,500-48,000 dependent on qualifications and experience.
