In Michigan there are TEN different types of public libraries operating under NINE different establishment laws. I just reviewed it when this question came up. Pages 11 & 14 both have a blurb about Trustees not benefiting financially from their affiliation with their library. I am certainly not a lawyer, but I was always under the impression that being a Trustee was a volunteer position even when elected. This is a great question for Clare.
