The Midwest Collaborative for Library Services is offering three management-focused virtual workshops in its Supervisor Series this spring. The workshops, held over Zoom, are designed to be as
engaging and interactive as an in-person workshop, and each workshop includes individual and group activities, discussion, and hands-on practice.
The workshops being offered are:
- Motivating Employees to Be Their Best – Thursday, February 29, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Eastern (9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Central): This workshop is designed to help supervisors discover how to
tailor their leadership and communication style to suit the needs of their employees and find intrinsic methods of motivation. Read more or register at

- Learning to Manage for New Managers – Thursday, March 28, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Eastern (9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Central): This workshop is designed to help new managers set themselves up for
success by learning strategies to transition from doing the work to managing others. The workshop focuses on managers successfully handling staff, projects, performance, conflict, and themselves. Read more or register at

- Effective Communication Strategies for Managers – Thursday, April 25, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Eastern (9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Central): This workshop focuses on exploring clear, effective communication,
and teaching managers to be relatable, respectable, dependable, and communicative in order to meet employees’ needs, handle difficult conversations, and boost their assertiveness. Read more or register at

Participants earn 4 hours toward continuing education for each workshop. Each workshop’s schedule includes a 30 minute lunch break and several short breaks throughout.
