Hello. As part of an ongoing effort to alert the public about the upcoming deadline for REAL ID, Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson asked me to once again request your assistance.  As you know, this federally mandated requirement for identification means standard state-issued driver’s licenses and identification cards will no longer be accepted for boarding domestic flights within the United States, or when entering certain federal facilities, beginning Oct. 1.  Currently, just 47 percent of Michigan driver’s licenses and state ID cards are REAL-ID compliant which means raising public awareness is a high priority.

Here’s how you can help ...

We’re hoping you can once again assist in spreading the word about REAL ID both internally with your own staff and externally through your organization’s communication channels. To make things simple, we’ve updated our online toolkit that can be easily accessed through the following links:

Our plan is to reach out to you periodically between now and Oct. 1 for your continued help. Please know that any assistance you provide with raising public awareness will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your consideration,
