New Law Librarian - Eric Kennedy, Library Catalog Changes, and What's That Growing There?
Welcome
to New Law Librarian - Eric Kennedy
The Library of Michigan is excited to welcome Eric Kennedy as a new Law Reference Librarian to the Library’s staff! Eric is a graduate
of
Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Telecommunications as well as holds a Master of Library and Information Science from
Wayne State University.
Eric comes to the Library of Michigan with a rich background in librarianship. He previously worked for
Wayne State University Library System, followed by serving several years as a Reference Librarian for
Western Michigan University Cooley Law School (WMU-Cooley). While at WMU-Cooley, Eric was honored by Michigan Lawyers Weekly as a member of their
‘Unsung Legal Heroes’ Class of 2018.
Additionally, Eric has some past connections to the Library of Michigan. As a college student, Eric worked for the Library of Michigan
at both the Michigan Avenue location (also known as the Dudley Building) and the Library’s current location within the Michigan Library and Historical Center. He also participated as a member of the Michigan
Notable Books selection committee.
Eric is an important addition to the Law Library reference team, doubling the staff. We hope you'll stop in soon to tell him "Hi!"

Pending Library Catalog Changes
The Library of Michigan's catalog software will undergo a complete change on June 30th. During the week prior to the change on the 30th,
the Library's patron record system, catalog, and circulation system will be unavailable. However, there will be a manual process in place to record checked-out materials.
Once the system goes live on June 30, there will still be several projects to refine the software in order to make sure everything is
working properly. As that work is taking place, please be aware that some features of the catalog and check-out system may experience glitches.
Furthermore, patrons will eventually need to change their library card pin numbers in order to use our electronic resources remotely.
Instructions will be provided as we get closer to that part of the process.
Thank you in advance for your patience during this transition!

What's That Growing There?
Plant, mushroom and even algae identification keys are valuable tools for the professional and amateur naturalist's work. The Library
of Michigan has a fascinating collection of keys available that cover a wide range of living things in great depth. See a sample of our collection below. Find out what's growing in your yard, pond, pool, property, and more!
