Greetings Michigan Library Community,

On February 14th, the LearningExpress Library platform underwent a major update to the user interface. Overall, you’ll find the platform has a cleaner, sleeker look. Under the surface, however, is an easier site to navigate.

The most obvious change is the removal of the carousel, which has been replaced with full access to all learning centers and their respective categories from the homepage. Another improvement is relocating the keyword search box to the center of the homepage to make it more prominent. Guidance has also been improved to be more topic-specific. You’ll now see a “Learn More – Guidance” tab when browsing resources by topic. All of these changes have resulted in a 50% reduction in the number of clicks to get to tests, tutorials, and eBooks, making access easier for patrons. And the new and improved site has been optimized for performance and is responsively-designed for use on smart phones and tablets, making it even more accessible to patrons on-the-go!

The new enhancements present a great opportunity to reintroduce LearningExpress Library to colleagues and patrons, and to promote it in your community. LearningExpress has made it very easy to do so with a link dedicated to promotional resources that does not require login. Promotional tools are also available in-product on the Administrators & Librarians tab in the grey footer of any page of the site. Once there, click Help Guides to access all promotional resources, including instructions for Creating Direct Links to each learning center. Creating direct links increases the number of access points for LearningExpress Library on your website, thus maximizing the visibility of this important resource and ultimately driving patron usage. LearningExpress has something for everyone in the community; it’s just a matter of spreading the word!
