Annie—
The Dearborn Public Library had a viewing of
Essential Arrival with a question and answer session following the viewing by the filmmaker. This was during one of our regular Monday night Blockbusters free film series we offer to the public. It was shown on April 16, 2018, during the middle of our
Big Read program last year, which had the title “The Namesake” by Jhumpa Lahiri as the book/film chosen for the Big Read, so Arifa’s documentary fit in very nicely with the theme. We had approximately 45 attendees for that program.

Subject: [Michlib-l] Local Documentary Screening
Have any local libraries screened the local documentary about Indian immigrants called
Essential Arrival by Arifa Javed? We’ve been contacted by the filmmaker and I’m wondering if the program has been successful other places.
Thank you,
