Hello. As part of the ongoing partnership between libraries and the Secretary of State’s Office, I’m hoping you will consider sharing the following information as well as the attached flyers with your patrons. As always, thanks so much
for your help!
1.
New Veterans Designation for Driver’s Licenses and State IDs
Note: In May, I provided you with a short message to share on the new veteran’s designation for driver’s licenses and state IDs. I subsequently received a request from a library
director for a flyer on this new service that could be posted in libraries. Thanks for that suggestion! In response, we created the attached flyer that we hope you will post and if you didn’t get a chance to share the original message with your patrons,
here it is:
Secretary of State announces veteran designation for licenses and ID cards
Michigan veterans can now display their proof of service right on their Michigan driver's license or state ID card, making it easer to receive benefits that often
go unclaimed, such as retail discounts, promotions and special offers. According to Secretary of State Ruth Johnson, the new designation is available to all honorably discharged Michigan veterans and is free of charge when renewing a state license or ID or
applying for one.
2.
Voter Registration Deadline
Please share the following message on the upcoming registration deadline for the August 5 election. I’ve also provided a flyer for you to post (see attached).
