Looking for take-home maker projects that appeal to kids and teens? Join us for a day of fashion hacking, our term for turning secondhand clothes into new creations. See what you can make from a t-shirt, a men’s button-down, or even pieces from a discarded leather or suede jacket! Come play for the day in Frankenmuth’s beautiful and high-energy Wickson District Library – supplies are provided.

LEARNING THROUGH DOING, ALPENA

Tuesday, July 18 – Thursday, July 20

More information: http://makinginmichiganlibraries.eventbrite.com

Choose one workshop or a combination. Make a full day of it by exploring Alpena’s museums, galleries, even shipwrecks!

·      Fashion Hacking (Wed 7/19, all day)

·      Creating Design Challenges (Thurs 7/20, morning)

·      Selling Handmade Goods Online (Thurs., 7/20, afternoon)

There’s more maker goodness coming in August, with multiple workshops in Coopersville (near Grand Rapids), Houghton Lake (mid-Michigan), and Benzonia (near Traverse City). Maker workshops are made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services RE-05-15-0021-15.

Hope to see you at one of these events!
