Allegan District Library is hiring a Youth Services Librarian.
Under the supervision of the Library Director, the Youth Services Librarian plans, organizes, and conducts youth services, including programming and collection development for children from birth to age 17. The Youth Services Librarian works closely with the Adult Programming and Marketing Coordinator for outreach and marketing for community youth.
This is a full-time benefited position. Benefits include: health insurance (employee pays 10% of premiums), an HRA account for vision and dental (funded at $600 per year by the library), short- and long-term disability, life insurance, sick time (1 hour per 30 hours worked), retirement (10% of salary paid by the library with no matching required), and generous paid time off (a full year of PTO for this position would begin at 144 hours/18 days). Allegan District Library maintains a budget for professional memberships and professional development opportunities.
This position is exempt, the starting salary $40,000,
with a Board-approved pay matrix mid-range of $46,250, and top range of
$52,500.
Requirements for the Youth Services Librarian include, but are not limited to:
a Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited library/information
sciences school;
two years of experience working in a library-related
setting; previous experience, training, or education in organizing and presenting
programs to children and/or teens; and previous experience, training, or
education in collection development duties for children and/or teens.
