There is coverage of many musical topics in the Gale Virtual Reference Library database in MEL.  Baker's Biographical Dictionary of Musicians,  and Baker's Dictionary of Musicians since 1990.  Many other music related topics are covered in encyclopedia and handbooks about other realms, such as popular culture, history, medicine, psychology, etc. in the GVRL.
