The theme of the Friends Of Michigan Libraries (FOML) Fall Workshop is "Community Engagement: How Friends Can Promote the Value of Your Library" and it's coming up on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at the historic Carnegie Building across the street from the Petoskey District Library!
These workshops are a great time to network with other Friends groups, tour the Petoskey District Library, and spend a day learning how to support your library!
Speakers & topics include:
- Shannon White from the Library of Michigan introducing the new state-wide subscription to "United For Libraries"
- "Telling Your Library Story" with John Pelegrino from Gale Cengage Learning
- Helen Leithauser from North Central Michigan College discussing the "Lifelong Learning Model"
- And the opportunity to learn something new from other Friends groups during the Table Talk sessions and "Resources for Library Friends" with FOML President Paul Snyder
- Also, a little bit of culture and a little bit of fun: "Native American Culture/History of the Odawa Bands" with Eric Hemenway, Director of Archives & Records for the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians and a talk on "Petoskey Stones" with Nikki Devitt from the Petoskey Chamber of Commerce
