Moreta is a good thought, though the sketch more closely resembles the artwork on the back of the book (on the left side of the wraparound cover). Did the patron mention anything about the COLOR of the dragon?

Just to be clear it is the dragon on the left. It is artwork by Michael Whelan (corrected from original reply) for the book Moreta: Dragonlady of Pern.

Hello, Collective Brain!
I need some help trying to identify a book for a patron. We know that it is either YA or Adult Fiction and have a sketch based on the patron's recollection of the cover (attached below), but that's about it. The patron doesn't remember the author, title, or much about the content beyond that dragons played a heavy role in the plot.
If anyone has any ideas as to what it could be, I'd love to hear them! I thought perhaps it was something by Anne McCaffrey, but haven't found a match for the illustration provided.
