I'll chime in that MSU Extension does offer a number of expert programming and/or might put you in touch with someone - reach out to the district director in your region.  Sounds like a fun potentially multi-gen program for Unearth A Story(tm), too.

Does anyone know of a vermiculture (worm farming) specialist/hobbyist in southeast Michigan that might be interested in sharing their experiences/hobby for a library program? We could gear it toward adults or children.
