I wanted to highlight a small business series that I am running at the library in collaboration with SCORE of Southeast Michigan. We will have four different workshops starting on February 9^th and going through April. The topics are as follows.

Introduction to SCORE: February 9^th from 6 - 7:30pm

Are you a small business owner or entrepreneur looking for guidance or resources to help your business become a success? SCORE of Southeast Michigan is here to guide you! No matter where you are in your small business journey, SCORE provides detailed workshops, mentorship programs, and free marketing resources to assist you along the way. Setting up a Business: Legal and Tax Tips for Business Formation: March 24^th from 6 - 7:30pm

Tax season is upon us, and SCORE of Southeast Michigan is here to help! Are you looking to start and register a business but have questions about the type of business to choose? Have you experienced growth and would like to restructure for tax purposes?
Whether you are thinking about a DBA or LLC or creating an S-CORP for tax purposes, this workshop will help you understand the different types of Business Structures and their tax responsibilities. Presented by Mary McGough, CPA, Larry Powe, Esq., and Mark Landau, Esq.

Starting a Second Career as a Small Business Owner: April 7^th from 6 - 7:30pm

Are you in a current career and looking for a new challenge? Have you always dreamt of being your own boss after retirement? Ready to turn your side gig into a business? If you answered "yes" to these questions or are thinking about becoming an entrepreneur then this event is perfect for individuals like you!
Whether you have a specific business idea in mind or are still exploring your options, this event will provide you with the inspiration, knowledge, and network you need to kickstart your entrepreneurial journey. Presented by Mary McGough, CPA, Larry Powe, Esq., and Mark Landau, Esq.

Understanding the Lean Canvas Business Model: April 20^th from 6 - 7:30pm

Do you have a small business idea you've been trying to start up? The Lean Canvas Business Model can be a great guide to organizing your ideas. The Lean Canvas Business Model is a one-page diagram designed for entrepreneurs to use when developing a startup business idea. This presentation, presented in collaboration with SCORE of Southeast Michigan, will walk you through the steps to create your own Lean Canvas Model and answer any burning questions about owning a business. No matter where you are in your small business journey, SCORE provides detailed workshops, mentorship programs, and free marketing resources to assist you along the way. Join us at the library to help bring your business ideas to life! Presented by Richard Gibbs.

Registration is not required for any of these workshops, but it is recommended. Those that are interested can register online at our event calendar, give us a call, or stop in. You do not need a library card or be a Westland resident to attend these events, all are welcome!
