Hi all,

A patron is looking for an article that allegedly appeared in a 1949 issue of Time, possibly the week August 15, entitled “Modern Houses Across America.” The article has been described to include information on architects such as Alden B. Dow and Frank Lloyd Wright. She is specifically interested in the article because it’s said to include information about the only Dow home built in Flint for Millard Saxton seen here: https://www.usmodernist.org/dow.htm

This Time article is referenced in an article by Dwell and in other blogs, and the partial citation was given to the patron by the Alden Dow studio. Before coming to us for help, she had scoured the ToCs of several years of Time and found nothing; we also found no article in Life by this title, only a reference from 1937. Searching the Time vault, to which I don’t have full access, yielded nothing to indicate an article by this title.

Please let me know off-list if you have suggestions - we’re stumped! Does this article exist??
