Manuals & Artwork access

If you have not received the manual download code, and would still like to, please contact me directly.

CSLP’s Organizational Coordinator Luke Kralik has made 3 short video tutorials on how to easily access the 2021 online manual and art files for #TailsandTales. Please follow this link to learn how: https://www.cslpreads.org/2021-tutorials/. Be sure to select “Additional Content” in the “Narrow Search Results” section for files such as reading logs, reading records, NNLM Citizen Science, registration badges, etc. that have been added recently to the Online Manual.

Rules of Use

All MI public libraries are members of CSLP, but please do adhere to the Rules of Use (recently updated) when implementing your program, purchasing or creating materials, etc.  To find their official partners, go to: https://www.cslpreads.org/membership-information/our-partners/.

Supplemental Resources for Tails & Tales

Thanks to the Alabama Public Library Service for a great Tails & Tales LibGuide – they have tracking sheets, Grab & Go materials, crafts, and more!

OH Youth Services group has also created a “Take & Make” Google Folder and are still compiling ideas – you do need a Google Account to access. We have permission to borrow their ideas.

Thank you, Alabama & Ohio!

Did you know you can take a virtual tour of the Detroit Zoo? Could be a fun virtual share or a #TailsandTales program this summer: https://www.thinglink.com/mediacard/1402095879061504001

Social Media

The Library of Michigan has created a series of sample posts and graphics for your library to use on social media, which have been added to the overall Collaborative Summer Library Program’s 2021 Tails & Tales Social Media Toolkit: https://bit.ly/CSLP_Toolkit21. The document is a living one, so the CSLP social media team will keep it updated. Remember you can follow CSLP on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest: @CSLPreads. CSLP also offers two Facebook Groups for member library staff: Feeding the Whole Child and the Official Summer Library Programming group.

The "base" files are available for you to add your own logo or text if this is something your library is interested in doing. These files can be found on the "Additional Program Tools" tab, under the Manual Downloads drop down. Here is the direct link, although you do need to be logged in to access them: https://www.cslpreads.org/manual-downloads/. A quick tutorial on how access the PSAs on the CSLP website and how to add your library’s information to the PSA using Open Shot Video Editor (an free open source tool): https://youtu.be/abeKZQONVNk. Finally, CSLP has released "shorts" cut from the PSA, and these are available in the social media toolkit for your library’s social media channels.

Reading Logs/Tri-fold brochure

Michigan public libraries are encouraged to download and edit the following PDF's to include their library's programming, logo and contact information. A library might also choose to edit out the reading log lines and input additional programming or add a reading recommendation list. Need to learn how to edit a PDF? A quick search online will give you free resources and instructions to meet your needs.

Artwork Committee

CSLP is currently seeking applicants for the 2023 artwork by Frank Morrison. Please complete this application by May 10th if you are interested (it is a popular committee to serve on).

The Teen Video Challenge, sponsored by the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP), is an annual national video contest open to all teens (librarian and teacher support is encouraged). The challenge is for teens to create a public service announcement-type video that shows their unique interpretation of the 2021 CSLP slogan “Tails and Tales.” Videos are to be no longer than 60 seconds and should promote libraries and reading. https://www.cslpreads.org/programs/teen-program/2021-teen-video-challenge/

Videos will be accepted June 1 through August 6, 2021.
