As part of the Monthly Library Law Spotlight Webinar series, Wednesday February 26, 2020 @ 10:30am there will be a FREE Webinar discussing Employment Law Basics for Public Libraries.

 

Federal and State employment laws and regulations affect every employer in Michigan- including public libraries. From posting positions to retirement parties, there are laws and rules that Directors, Managers and Boards should know. This webinar will discuss the basics of employment law as it applies to Michigan public libraries.

 

Participants in this webinar will :

1) Receive a list of State and Federal employment laws that could affect their libraries
2) Learn about "At Will" status and what it means.
3) Gain a better understanding (and resources for assistance!) about how to handle disciplinary and other sticky employment issues
4) Receive tips and examples on how to create employment policies and job postings that comply with Federal and State law.
