I am having a hard time following up with overdue notices in MelCat. We have multiple branches in our library, and we quarantine our items for 72 hours. This means that when I run our daily overdue notices, the items could very well be in quarantine in the other branches. I end up calling/emailing patrons who have already returned their items. I thought a good way around that would be to wait 4 days to call the patrons, to see if the items had come out of quarantine. I am hesitant to do that, as we are only able to renew items six days after they've been overdue (book items; A/V is non-renewable), and the first notice occurs when the item has been three days overdue. I had thought that emailing the branches with a list of overdue notices and having them check the quarantine areas would be okay, but that idea is not the best. Does anyone have any experience with this? Any ideas?
