DIRECTOR
- MID-MICHIGAN LIBRARY LEAGUE
The Mid-Michigan Library League
(MMLL) is seeking qualified applicants interested in serving as full time
Director. The cooperative membership includes 36 public libraries in 15
counties of Michigan’s lower peninsula (ranging from small, rural libraries to
class 5). Working with an annual budget of $322,000, and in accordance with the
policies set by the Cooperative Board, the MMLL is looking for a dedicated
Director who can take us into the next generation of library service.

Requirements
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
- Able to maintain confidentiality when advising and
consulting with libraries
- Knowledge of technology, especially as it relates to
libraries
- Demonstrated understanding in preparing and managing a
budget
- Dynamic speaker
- Demonstrated management and leadership skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationship with the Cooperative Board, staff, staff of member libraries,
legislators, vendors, outside agencies and the public
- Experience acquiring additional sources of funding
- Ability to work alongside member libraries in the
planning, development, and implementation of long-range goals and
objectives
- Position requires travel to member libraries and
throughout other areas of Michigan
Responsibilities
- Reports to the Board concerning the work of the
cooperative, its needs and progress
- Prepares and administers the budget as approved by the
Board
- Ensures that professional development and continuing
learning opportunities are offered to staff and the membership
- Direction of the programs and services provided by the
Cooperative
- Submits recommendations concerning policies and
services to the Cooperative Board and implements policy decisions
- Provides supervision of Cooperative staff
- Manages the Cooperative’s business office
- Advocates for libraries at the local and state level
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA
accredited school
- Level 1 Permanent Professional Certificate or
eligibility for it at the time of appointment
- Minimum of 4 years of Supervisory experience
- Minimum of 2 years Administration experience
- Advanced Director Training
Compensation
The range for this full-time salaried
position has been set by the Board at $75,000-$85,000 plus benefits and is
based upon experience and qualifications.
