Attention Library colleagues from northern counties of Michigan's lower peninsula: This Thursday, Jan. 21 at 10am, MLA is hosting a coffee hour with guests from the Northern Michigan Opioid Response Consortium (NMORC). The NMORC mission is to engage Northern Michigan in a coordinated response to reduce opioid use disorders. One of their goals is providing Naloxboxes to community organizations so that naloxone is available in areas where overdoses may occur. Public libraries are a priority for this placement. Join us this Thursday, Jan. 21 at 10am to learn more about the initiative. Special guests from NMORC will discuss and share reasons for having Naloxboxes and a draft policy for implementing them in your library. The NMORC is a 35-member Consortium addressing the opioid epidemic in an 18-county region including Alcona, Alpena, Arenac, Cheboygan, Clare, Crawford, Gladwin, Iosco, Kalkaska, Lake, Missaukee, Montmorency, Ogemaw, Oscoda, Otsego, Presque Isle, Roscommon, and Wexford counties of rural northern Michigan. Library professionals from these areas and anyone else interested in learning more are welcome and encouraged to join the conversation. The coffee hour is free to attend!
